"Regardless of climate change, we must shift from our dependence on fossil fuels to renewable energy sources." My understanding is that climate change is the only reason we'd be switching away from coal any time soon...
To Tinos: Climate change is why we should do it soon, but at some point the non-renewable energy will run out, and the renewable energy will have to be used.
